About Ian

Three decades of building, fixing and simplifying businesses

Ian Lacovara, known as The Business Ninja, is a Brooklyn-born Gen X entrepreneur who has spent three decades starting, operating, rebuilding and learning from businesses. Today he works from the mountains of Trinity County, California, where distance from the noise sharpened his belief that better systems should improve more than revenue - they should create time, clarity and room for family.

Through I Ninja LLC, Ian helps life insurance agents, agencies and service businesses connect lead capture, AI-assisted follow-up, appointment booking, CRM workflows and pipeline visibility into practical systems people will actually use. His perspective combines degrees in computer science and business administration with continuing education in AI, sales, technology and digital growth - and plenty of lessons earned the expensive way.

A husband, father, educator and community-minded business owner, Ian supports financial-literacy, rural-business and workforce-development efforts. His style is direct, witty and unmistakably Gen X: practical over performative, human over hype, and focused on upgrading life, family, mind and business.

He and his wife homeschool their daughter. Ian is direct about why the time argument matters to him: he built the family he never had. Both his parents have passed and there is no extended family behind him, so a business that eats every evening is not a business he is willing to run - and it is not one he will help anyone else build.

About I Ninja LLC

Systems that catch the leads a business is already paying for

I Ninja LLC builds and runs the operational plumbing behind growth: capturing leads, responding fast, following up with AI assistance, booking appointments and giving owners a clear view of their pipeline. It is a systems and technology company, not an advertising agency - Ian does not run ad campaigns on behalf of clients.

Who it serves

Life insurance agents and agencies first, plus service-based businesses, startups and small-to-medium brands that live or die by follow-up.

What it builds

Lead capture, AI-assisted follow-up, appointment booking, CRM workflows, automation and pipeline visibility - connected into one system instead of six disconnected tools.

How it works

Remote-first from Trinity County, California, serving clients nationwide. Rural base, national reach - the systems travel further than the founder does.

Audience & platforms

A working audience, not a vanity number

Ian publishes for people who run something: insurance agents and agency owners, service-business operators, and Gen X entrepreneurs weighing what AI actually changes about their work. The reach below is honest arithmetic - platform follows, counted per channel.

Totals verified August 8, 2026. Combined, these represent more than 7,400 platform follows across four channels. People follow on more than one platform, so this figure should not be read as 7,400 unique individuals.

Speaking & interview topics

Six conversations Ian can carry

Each of these works as a podcast interview, a virtual keynote, a workshop or a panel seat. Topics can be adapted to an audience of agents, operators, founders or general business listeners.

Topic

More Leads Won't Fix Broken Follow-Up

Why adding leads to a broken process usually creates more waste - and how to build a capture, response, nurture and booking system before increasing lead volume.

Topic

AI Without Losing the Human

How businesses can use AI for speed, consistency and administrative work while keeping trust, empathy and judgment in human hands.

Topic

From Brooklyn Hustle to Mountain Focus

What moving from Brooklyn intensity to rural mountain life taught Ian about focus, family, reinvention and building a business that supports life instead of consuming it.

Topic

The Gen X Advantage in an AI Economy

How experienced entrepreneurs can adapt to AI without chasing every shiny object, abandoning their values or pretending experience no longer matters.

Topic

Upgrade the Operator, Upgrade the Business

Why personal discipline, mindset, health, family stability and decision-making directly affect the systems and results inside a business.

Topic

Rural Roots, Nationwide Reach

How technology, automation and modern communication systems allow entrepreneurs in overlooked rural communities to build, serve and compete nationally.

Program formats

Three sessions built and ready to run

Any topic above can be shaped to your program. These three are already structured as full sessions, with a stated length and a defined takeaway, so you know what your audience leaves with.

Keynote · 30-45 minutes

More Leads Won't Fix Broken Follow-Up

The audience leaves understanding exactly where leads disappear, why speed of response decides most of the outcome, and how to assemble a capture, follow-up and booking sequence before spending another dollar on traffic.

Keynote or workshop · 45 minutes

AI Without Losing the Human

A working map of where AI belongs in a business, where a human has to stay, and how to automate the repetitive parts without turning the customer experience into something nobody wants to talk to.

Workshop · 60-90 minutes

The Gen X Advantage in an AI Economy

A hands-on session for experienced operators: what to adopt, what to ignore, and how to apply decades of judgment to new tools instead of starting over as a beginner.

Length, depth and examples are adjusted to your audience. Custom sessions are available on request.

For journalists

Available for expert commentary on

If you need two solid paragraphs before deadline rather than a long interview, say so and that is what you will get. Ian runs these systems daily, so the commentary comes from operating experience rather than theory.

Subjects

  • AI adoption by small and mid-sized businesses
  • Why companies lose leads they have already paid to acquire
  • AI-assisted follow-up versus human follow-up
  • CRM and automation projects that fail, and why
  • Gen X entrepreneurs adapting to AI tools
  • Technology and entrepreneurship in rural America
  • Operational inefficiency in small-business systems
  • Technology and follow-up practices among life insurance agents

On deadline

Put your deadline in the subject line and email [email protected] directly. Deadline requests move ahead of the normal two-business-day review.

Written comment, a recorded interview or a background call all work. Ian will say plainly when a question falls outside what he actually knows, and he does not claim results he cannot document.

Bios, headshot and logos are in the media assets section, ready to use without asking.

Positions, on the record

Quotable as written, or as a starting point for a follow-up question.

Most businesses do not have a lead problem. They have a response problem. Buying more leads to fix it is like adding water to a bucket with a hole in it.

Ian Lacovara, on lead generation spending

AI should handle the work nobody wanted to do anyway. The moment it starts handling trust, you have automated away the reason someone chose you.

Ian Lacovara, on AI in customer relationships

Rural entrepreneurs are not behind. They have been underserved. Give a small-town operator the same systems a city firm uses and the gap closes fast.

Ways to work together

What Ian says yes to - and what he doesn't

Open to

  • Podcast and video interview appearances
  • Virtual keynotes, workshops and panel discussions
  • Webinars and virtual summits
  • Business, technology, AI and entrepreneurship events
  • Insurance-agent and agency training
  • Software and technology partnerships
  • Carefully vetted affiliate and referral relationships
  • Advisory and strategic collaboration
  • Financial-literacy, rural-business and workforce-development programs
  • Nonprofit and community events
  • Gen X, fatherhood, reinvention and personal-development conversations

Not a fit

  • Pay-to-play press or vanity awards presented as earned recognition
  • Products he has not personally evaluated but is expected to endorse
  • Get-rich-quick promotions or misleading income claims
  • Partnerships built on spam, deceptive lead generation or improper data use
  • Fake testimonials, exaggerated outcomes or guaranteed-results claims
  • Unrelated promotions with no meaningful audience alignment
  • Commercial opportunities without a clear scope, audience, timeline, expectations and compensation structure
  • Extensive unpaid consulting framed as a partnership inquiry

Availability

Ian is currently booking virtual engagements only. He and his wife homeschool their daughter, and that schedule keeps him home through the school year. Remote interviews, streamed keynotes, virtual workshops and recorded panels all work normally. If an event genuinely requires him in the room, say so in the inquiry and it will be answered honestly rather than left open.

Fees

Podcast appearances and editorial interviews are not charged. A small, well-run show is as interesting to Ian as a large one, and a reporter on deadline never gets an invoice.

Fees apply to paid keynotes, workshops, agency training and commercial partnerships, and are available upon request. Rates depend on the format, preparation requirements, audience, recording rights, content usage and length of engagement.

Nonprofit, rural development & community projects

Better businesses should mean better families and towns

Ian contributes time, technology experience and business guidance to efforts involving financial literacy, rural entrepreneurship, workforce development and stronger opportunities for underserved communities in Northern California. It is not a marketing program. It comes from the same belief that runs through his client work: a business that runs better should give something back to the people around it.

Financial literacy

Plain-language sessions on how money, risk and protection actually work, aimed at people who were never taught it and are tired of being sold to instead of educated.

Rural entrepreneurship

Helping owners in small and remote communities use technology to reach customers far beyond the county line, without relocating or abandoning the place they live.

Workforce & technology training

Practical instruction in business systems, technology and AI tools for people building a first career, changing one, or keeping a small operation alive.

What Ian can bring to a nonprofit or community program

  • Virtual workshops and talks for members, students or small-business participants
  • Guidance on the systems behind intake, follow-up and volunteer coordination
  • A working entrepreneur's view of AI and technology, minus the hype
  • Panel participation for rural-business and workforce-development events

Community and nonprofit engagements are considered case by case. Availability, format and any costs are agreed in advance rather than assumed in either direction.

Community & nonprofit inquiries

These requests go through their own intake, separate from press and paid speaking, so the questions actually fit the work.

Community and nonprofit inquiries are reviewed alongside media requests. Prefer email? Write to [email protected] and say it is a community or nonprofit program.
